Release notes: October 5–11, 2026
October 13th, 2026
Changes with no impact on existing DDL/API functions
AI Copilot
- Skills tab in AI settings: account admins can manage organization skills from a dedicated Skills tab on the dashboard, without opening a project — create (from a template or scratch), edit, and delete skills, each shown with its description and last-updated time, plus an onboarding empty state with template suggestions
- Copilot can now work with a semantic model's relationships: it reads join type, cardinality, and joined columns so you can ask how the model's tables join, and it can create, edit, and delete the relationships a named semantic model defines (cardinality, column pairs, display name, description), leaving relationships inherited from the project unchanged
- Clicking the AI icon now shows a feature preview inside the Tool (with a link to learn how SqlDBM AI can help with a model), instead of opening the AI landing page outside the Tool
- Copilot now recognizes color labels by name, description, and color value, so you can ask for a label by any of them
- (Fix) Copilot no longer deletes tables and views that other projects use via Global Reference (it reports the referencing projects, as the diagram already does), and its create-table tool now creates primary key indexes and accepts a schema
Semantic Modeling
- Import metric views directly from a Databricks Unity Catalog into Semantic Models, so existing metric definitions can be brought in without redefining them
- (Fix) Importing a semantic model no longer doubles the relationship count — default relationships are marked excluded on import, and relationships with missing or incomplete column pairs are now kept in the generated YAML (and surfaced as errors and warnings on the Forward Engineer page) instead of being silently dropped
- (Fix) Saving a semantic model no longer fails when a relationship's column pair uses a semantic column, which had blocked all changed models from saving
Project Settings
- New project-wide modeling defaults: set a default nullability for new columns (previously always NOT NULL) and a default for the delete-confirmation choice. The nullability default applies to columns you add directly, including via Copilot; foreign key, pasted, and dynamic table columns keep their existing rules, and nothing changes for existing projects until someone updates these settings
Databricks
- Databricks SSO now supports multiple hosts within a single account
- (Fix) Merging a branch that contains a Databricks tag with several values no longer fails with a duplicate-object error — tags are compared exactly and every value is preserved
- (Fix) The Column Lineage Analysis explorer in Databricks projects no longer shows a "Dynamic tables" section (dynamic tables are Snowflake-only)
OpenAPI
- POST to Main: the public API can now write to Main, with each merge recording its resulting revision so a branch's Main sync point comes from merge history. Main advances only from the revision a write was built on, and the "behind Main" indicator is now driven by the server
Global Objects
- Governance field definitions can now be created in a Global Standards project and are inherited, locked, by mapped projects — tracked across Global Standards compare revisions and published with each new revision
Diagrams
- Object types hidden by a diagram's View Mode options now show an explanatory note in the matching Diagram Explorer section (for example, "hidden by view mode options")
Interface
- The Property Editor and Copilot sidebar now reopen the way you left them across reloads, and the Explorer, Property Editor, and Copilot sidebar widths are remembered too (saved per browser; read-only users start with them closed)
Excel Export
- (Fix) Exporting Database Documentation and Reverse Engineering models to Excel on large projects no longer fails with a payload-too-large rejection or a timeout
dbt
- (Fix) dbt YAML Forward Engineering no longer fails when a relationship has a column pair with no column selected — such pairs are now accepted
Color Labels
- (Fix) Tables without their own color again show the color inherited from their schema on diagrams
Permissions
- (Fix) Deleting a user whose session had expired without being closed no longer fails with a server error
- (Fix) In the admin console, the "Select all" checkbox now selects only the projects matching the active filter, instead of all of a user's projects
Reliability
- (Fix) Email and Slack notifications are no longer dropped during a deploy — in-flight message polls now finish before shutdown instead of going to the dead-letter queue
Error Handling
- (Fix) Unhandled errors now show a friendly message or a copyable "Something went wrong – Operation
" reference, instead of raw internal exception text
User Connections
- (Fix) A Git-only connection (no database) no longer shows a default Snowflake icon in the user connections list
Logical Projects
- (Fix) Exporting a logical project to a new Snowflake project whose name already exists now reports the duplicate-name conflict clearly, instead of a generic error
