Release notes: September 28 – October 4, 2026

Changes with no impact on existing DDL/API functions

AI Copilot

  • (Fix) Copilot now grounds its answers in SqlDBM's own product context and help center, so it no longer points to the wrong support channel or describes UI that doesn't exist
  • (Fix) The Copilot banner in the New Project dialog is now readable in light mode (previously dark text on a dark background)

Databricks

  • Databricks semantic views and metric views: both now appear in the DDL object list with full and alter scripts, safe-script handling, and drop support. Reverse Engineering adds a format selector and imports metric views with their source, parameters, and comments; Compare shows semantic model differences for Databricks projects; and forward-engineering diagnostics appear in the Errors & Warnings panel
  • (Fix) Databricks Reverse Engineering compare no longer fails when a key or index references a column that no longer exists on the table

Dashboard

  • Global Lineage: a new account-level view showing source-to-consumer dependencies across all your saved projects. Expand and collapse projects and objects, search across the graph, and see reference counts and highlighted connections. Global Lineage has its own section (with a distinct icon) in the Dashboard navigation, and the previously vague "some projects could not be synchronized" warning is now actionable

dbt

  • Multi-file YAML for dbt Push to Git: the Push to Git dialog for dbt Source and Model YAML now offers folder mode (static, or dynamic from the manifest path) and file mode (single or multiple), so a push can write multiple files into per-object folders. A Preview tab shows exactly what will be pushed, and the options pre-fill from new dbt generation defaults in Project Settings (saved per project, with Reset to default)

Global Objects

  • Color labels are now defined once in a Global Standards project and inherited (locked) by mapped projects, with a local label of the same name getting a numeric suffix. Revisions of a Global Standards project can also be compared through a single "Project-level objects" tab

Project Settings

  • Forward Engineer DDL defaults and dbt model defaults now live in project settings, with the Forward Engineering tab split into subtabs. The Forward Engineer screen pre-fills its DDL settings from these project defaults (with a link back to settings), and server-side DDL generation now reads the project's defaults; older revisions still open as before

Diagrams

  • You can now hide the Governed / Trusted status icons next to object names via a diagram View Mode checkbox (on by default, so existing diagrams look the same)
  • Discriminator relationship lines in logical projects now show display names, carried through Compare and the Discriminators sheet of the XLSX export (and discriminator property changes now apply correctly on merge)
  • The structure and dictionary Excel exports now include a read-only DIAGRAMS column listing the diagrams each object appears in, and locked projects now explain why Create CW is disabled

Reverse Engineering

  • SQL Server Direct Connect now opens a separate session per database when listing schemas, so Azure SQL instances with databases outside master no longer fail; an optional Database field was added for users who can't access master
  • Databricks Unity Catalog Direct Connect now accepts an optional object-name pattern on the Select schema step, so only matching objects are retrieved
  • (Fix) Long schema names in the Snowflake Reverse Engineering schema selector are now fully visible, so similarly named schemas can be told apart

Compare

  • (Fix) Compare responses now always include the flags field, which was previously returned empty for every comparison

Performance

  • Faster, lighter merge validation on large projects — it now reuses the existing compare instead of recomputing it, cutting both time and memory use
  • (Fix) Large compare-with-SQL requests no longer fail with an out-of-memory error, because compiler responses are now streamed instead of buffered

Concurrent Working

  • (Fix) Dangling global-reference rows no longer block merges and saves with an unreadable error about a missing project or revision

External Storage

  • (Fix) Saves to external S3 buckets no longer fail with an authorization error when the storage role lacks permission for a specific object version

Integrations

  • (Fix) Pushing to GitHub no longer fails on large repositories — a recursive per-folder walk that could exhaust the GitHub API rate limit was replaced with a single tree call

Logical Projects

  • (Fix) Logical model imports now bring in diagram object groups correctly, and color labels are checked automatically instead of needing manual selection

Project Stability

  • (Fix) Projects no longer hang when opened right after being saved

Notifications

  • You can now dismiss the column-reorder notification once you've seen it
